Is there any law in india which can prevent corporal punishment in the educational institutions?
If it is not there what kind of action should a guardian take when it happens?

yes, one Act having and restriction to corporal punishment, Right to Education Act section 17 is denies a teacher to corporal punishment.

Corporal punishment is not only prohibited under our Domestic law as pointed by M.Sheik Mohamed Ali, but even uner UNESCO long before it was incorporated in our domestic law under RTE.
