The Institution of Engineers (India) having its address at 8-Gokhale Road, Kolkata – 700020 registered under the Indian Companies Act, 1913 in the year 1920 and formally inaugurated in 1921 by Lord Chelmsford, the then Viceroy and Governor General of India and granted the Royal Charter of Incorporation 1935 by His Majesty the King George V of England in 1935.
1. Whether the Royal Charter of Incorporation 1935 of the said Institution altered or repealed or amended by a Competent Legislature or other Competent Authority under the Constitution of India.
2. Details of Alternation or Amendment or Repletion done to the Royal Charter of Incorporation 1935 of the said Institution under the Constitution of India.
3. Whether the Royal Charter of Incorporation 1935 of the said Institution recognized by the Constitution of India.
4. Article in the Constitution of India under which the Royal Charter of Incorporation 1935 of the said Institution recognized.
5. Whether the Royal Charter of Incorporation 1935 of the said Institution still in force under the Constitution of India.

In the light of the authority vested by the Royal Charter the said Institute certifies the competency of engineers.
The Council of The Institution of Engineers ( India), at its discretion, approves that a person fulfilling the educational, technical and other experience criteria as prescribed by it, and shall be entitled to describe himself as a Chartered Engineer/Professional Engineer.
I would like to know what is the Legal Staus of Chartered Engineer/Professional Engineer.

Article 19 of the COI
This provision confers on the said Institution the legislative powers to control,superintend & direct the engineering profession in India as in
accordance with the objectives of the Royal Charter constitution of which makes the said Institution legally obliged to dispose its constitutional & statutory duties in engineering as defined in the
Charter for serving Nation & also a Fundamental duty & responsibility
collectively as a body.

This article automatically repeals all the (void) state legislature/Municipal bye laws for the regulation of engineers & the
engineering professional competencies & all other matters due to the provisions already incorporated with the IEI Royal Charter 1935 now implied as IEI Constitutional Charter of India
