Hi,
I am a resident of a co op housing society in Andheri East suburbs of Mumbai. The managing committee has issued guidelines that children are not allowed to play in the society compound as they may hurt people passing by or damage property. My son is 10 years old and plays cricket with a rubber ball in the compound. I have two questions.
1. Can the society issue such a guideline.
2. Can the society prevent children from the nearby/adjoining building from coming and playing in our society compound.
Regards

1. Yes if the bye laws gives such power.
2. Yes
However if the parents of the children feels the order harsh it can dispute such decision in the society meeting and the said decision may be set aside by majority decision.
If not then you can challenge such order in the office of DRCS of your area.

managing committee cannot prohibit children from playing in the play ground in society compound . what managing committee can do is lay down reasonable restrictions . as to if any damage is caused to society property or any window panes are broken it will have to rectifed / repleced by children parents .
what you cna do is requision an Exreordinary general body meeting after obtaining signature odf some members . raise the issue and see to it that resolution passed by Manging coimmittee is revoked
