counter claim and appeal

The suit of the pltff. is decreed and the counterclaim of the deft.is rejected,in that case whether two appeals are to be filed,one against the suit and another against the rejection of counter claim or one appeal ?

if defendant is suffering a decree obtained by plaintiff, definately two appeals to be preferred, otherwise no use in filing appeal
