Cross examination in dv case

In my Domestic Violence (DV) case, after 3 years of filing the DV case Complainant (my wife) has submitted only one Evidence Affidavit in the court which is nothing but photo copy of her DV petition.

My Lawyer is saying that there will be cross examination on basis of the affidavit.

Is it as per due process to cross examine based upon just Evidence Affidavit?

Apart from the affidavit,she has to more evidences and witnesses to prove the criminal act of the marital home.

What I understand is that opp party may or may not file any other evidence.

I still need to proceed with cross on her affidavit or any other evidence.
