Property dispute

(Querist) 11 September 2015 This query is : Resolved
My father inherits properties both from his mother's and father's side. He is trying to sell the land he inherited from his mother's side. I do not want him to sell the land. Is there any legal redressal system through which I can stop him. I am an adult and working. He is doing all this because I am getting married against his wishes to a girl I know for past 7 years. This property he is trying to sell is in Patna.

Once he had inherited he is the absolute Owner.

Sir, he inherits as in my grandfather or grandmother did not write any will, so in that case am I also party to the land? I specifically want to know about the land of my grandmother. She inherited it from her father, and died after my grandfather without writing any will. So does her property belong just to her son and daughter or to me and my brother also(sons of her son).

If you can go against his wishes, why you expect that he should spare his inherited property for you?

Rajendra K Goyal (Expert) 11 September 2015
You have no share / say in the property till it is confirmed that the property falls under the definition of ancestral property.

Consult local lawyer and discuss.

Mr P S Dhingra, I was asking lawyers for legal advise, not their opinion about what I am doing.

Dear Narasimha Sir, I am not doubting his qualifications or expertise, I am just saying I am asking for legal advise, not his opinion. Deep down you also know what he offered me was not a legal advise, in my favour or against doesn't even matter. Because you too offered an opinion against me, but I respect it because it is a professional behaviour that you have showcased by offering a professional advise totally on the merit of the case, with no personal opinion in it. True respect for you sir.
