Is it illegal to purchase land on the name of Muslim minor son? Or transfer by grand parents on the name of Muslim minor grand son?

It is not illegal.

In regard to the purchase of land, the only thing is the contract/agreement of purchase cannot be signed by the Minor but it has to be signed by a guardian on his behalf as a purchaser.

In the case of GIFT, it is an one sided action by the person giving the GIFT and therefore, he can give the gift to anybody that he wishes including to a minor.

It is legal.

Grandparents can gift property to grand child.
