in this regard the TV channels have already adopted certain rules and they have constituted a self regulatory body as well and the presiding officer for the body is retired Justice MM. Punchchi.

pls check for details from any news channel website.

I agree to the fact that Media acting effectively and actively these days. But, aren't they intruding into the privacy of others. I also opine that they are becoming more as means of entertainment rather than means of information to public. Earlier, the purpose of media was to give information to public as to the working of the government, laws enacted and other related aspects. But it is not the case. Lets keep aside the channels which are directly into entertaining field. But, the news channels are also commercialized.

It's not all the media are like that. media has been acting effectively to bring out corrutpion in Government.

Can somebody give me this information?
What is the governing law , a regulatary law relating to this media?

There are both sides of a coin. On the one hand media is bringing the voice of hidden facts/persons/areas/castes/religions/regions etc. immediately to the knowledge of all concerned and even making the things done in right prospective. On the ohter hand, it has entered in our bed room and has started airing entirely personal matters and even it is seen that biased reporting is made against certain persons/organizations/parties/facts etc. etc. and the power of media is such that no one can speak against it and complaints of its misuse generally come out. Definitely parliament should think over some law to control the misuse of media. Self regulatory procedure is not effective at all.

Freedom of the Press/media was one of the constitutional guarantees persistently demanded by India's freedom fighters during British colonial rule.
Freedom of the media consists of constitutional or statutory protections pertaining to the media and published materials.
