I have been bequeathed a flat and garage by registered last Will of my father. Garage has been in our possession since it was built in 1974. Builder sold garage directly and no share certificate was issued as Society was not yet formed then. We have been paying assessment directly to the Municipality since day 1.
Now Building is going in for redevelopment. The Developer agreed to give compensation initially but later backed off as Society is demanding original agreement of purchase of garage. Even after best efforts I am unable to trace it till today. The builder too has passed away and when all his documents were rendered useless due to water logging in office/godown all files were disposed off some years ago.
Is there any way in which I can still show ownership of garage?

If you have got regd., sale deed , you dont have to worry about the original agreement of purchase. If you dont have regd., sale deed with you, then apply for the certified copy of the same and show it to the society.

The agreement loses its relevance as soon as the deed is registered on the basis of that agreement. You are original purchaser of the site so must have been having the registered sale-deed. If not then obtain its copy from the office of the registrar. You are also having the municipal record in your favour which is sufficient to establish your undisputed ownership over the land so dont worry and let the developer come to your terms.
