rte act 2009

i would like to know whether the elementary education as per rte act 2009 means what ?
whether school cannot charge any fees from any student.....? or there are some restrictions.

My child is in class VIII in st. xaviers loyola school, ahmedabad. they are charging Rs. 1000.00 appx.fees monthly.. whether can they charge this when rte act 2009 is in force from april 2010.

whether i can claim refund of the last year school fees of my ward.

what action can i take against the school .. with whom I had to approach for remedy.......?

If the said school is a private school running without any aid from govt,it can fix it fees.

You cannot claim refund. Any Government plan is applicable on Government organizations, not on private organizations established for profit making. Education up to VII standard is free in all the Government schools only.

If it is private school ,You can check whether there is any fixation of fees by government in your state.If the amount collected from you is higher than the fixed amount ,then you can claim.
