You seem to be in the habit of shooting on your foot repeatedly.
When scores of persons are writing with "Anonymous" even for simple issues, who asks you to reveal your name here?
As regards the problem, there is no solution at all. However, if you can keep your mouth shut, and do not reveal to anyone, you can sail through. When they did not come to know for the past 4 years, the chances are very slim that they would come to know now.
DO NOT TALK ABOUT THIS WITH ANYBODY INCLUDING YOUR WIFE, COLLEAGUES, FRIENDS ETC.
REST IS IN THE HANDS OF ALLAH!

You are in a catch-22 situation. Damned if you do and Damned if you don't.
Suppose you want to return the money to the previous employer, they will definitely ask you why you want to return? You have to give the reason. You cannot give wrong reason. If you give correct reason, you will be asking for trouble. If you give a wrong reason, you are committing one more mistake.
When you slept over the matter for 4 years, what is it that is making you think on these lines now. Have talked about these things amongst your colleagues/friends and are you fearing that they may reveal?

Best idea given by Mr. Ramchandran... Keep your mouth shut, forget al the things. Dont tell or ask any thing about this to any one whosoever he/she may be... if possible not to your wife also. This is the only way to save yourself.
Returning of salary will not enough, it will amount to mis representation of fact and you will loose your current job and your PSU can file criminal case also against you.

that is true ,i was a bit overconfident, but now i am seriously worried and obsessed about losing my job and i want to save it at any cost. there has to be some way out from this predicament. although , i took the salary wrongly but it was my previous employee who was not ready to relieve me and owing to that i lost my five year service(benefits) . though it was my fundamental right to find better bread and butter. i am not that stupid to lose, on the one hand five year service just for the sake of one salary and on the other hand put my whole career at stake (specially the new job which is far more better than the previous one). i want to resolve this issue once for all .the whole blame should not fall on me i was constrained to do this . please enlighten me if this is indeed misconduct what penalty would be awarded to me. regards

dear ashok , thanx for ur response i informed my current employer about my previous job though not completely and also belatedly i.e after 3 years. they did not initiated any action against me and simply filed my experience certificate. it is noteworthy that the experience required at the time of appointment was nill. so , basically mis representation of fact is insignificant and meaningless. i would appreciate if u let me know that by simply taking salary how i become employed because i was on leave and did not rendered any services with my previous employer. in simple words, i was an employee on paper only. my current employer should not have any complains about that. isn't it. how can taking only salary without giving any services render onself employed and how it is a case of misconduct

Agreeing with Mr. Ramchandran, I would like to add that the action on your part amounts to serious misconduct in both the employment. Since none of your employer has taken any cognizance of this act.It is better not to disclose this fact to any one, otherwise this may put you in difficult situation. This is only option you have.
