Respected Experts,
Last week was my brother 's second hearing for Mediations and the girl agreed for settlement if we pay the marriage expenses which we did, but today was third and last hearing for mediation an the madam did not show up, Can you please tell me what should be my next steps, we are trying our level best to end this sad chapter,but the opposite party is trying hard to extort money from us. Earlier she demanded 6lkhs then 8lkhs ,We are suffering so much. any tips for me or my lawyer . any help is very much appreciated.

If the other party is greedy, not remain on any stand, amicable settlement not possible, you have no other alternate but to defend yourself in the court in cases against you and file divorce case. Let the law decide.

Any agreement to settle the amount should be fulfilled only at the end of the session only, you have settled the issue in the beginning itself, this indicated that you are ready for more and more settlements on demand, hence the other party is trying t cash on the weakness situation. Don't worry, you stand up and give stiff challenge, they will come for negotiations after that.
