did he leave behind a will or he died intestate .
if he died intestate then take a succession certifcate for moveable and immoveable properties. contact a local lawyer

You are already its sole/co-ownber by way of inheritance. No need for further transfer. You only require to enter your name in the Revenue Records of the Municipality/Panchayat. If he has left other legal heirs along with you then go for mutual partition deed.
