Previously there used to be, a person married under SMA was governed by Indian Succession Act for succession benefits rather than on religious succession act.

A special exception was carried out in favor of Hindus when both parties to the marriage are Hindus and irrespective of the fact that they got their marriage registered under SMA, they would be governed by Hindu Succesion Act only.
