Bmc rules on length\depth of safety grill

(Querist) 09 March 2012 This query is : Resolved
Kindly let me know the maximum permissible length\depth of the safety grill in a building as per BMC rules.
ajay sethi (Expert) 09 March 2012
well you can contact the BMC for length width of safety grills .

For the older buildings, grills can be "legalized" by writing to the BMC (Building & Factory department) and attaching the following documents:

Society or Landlord NOC

Original floor plan of the property (flat)

Approximately Rs 2,000 fee (exact amount depends on the area of window covered)

I agree with Ajay

I think nothing to add.

I think nothing to pay. if above 12 ft[ I don't say for sure] so that it do not touch a vehicle passing on road, and not extended over 18" from boundary wall, no one object.

We have over 50k building, having 3L grills, not head anyone pays anything for window grills . Only if anyone complains, or it comes in his way. Yes you cannot cover grills, No one ask any permission from municipal corpn, to my knowledge. ,
