Is there any guideline/directive to be followed in the following scenario?
An employee of the Company has put up an RTI query to the PIO of the same company. He is allowed to go through documents containing the information he requires. Can the Company insist that he should take leave for the time he is engaged in examining the documents, since the documents can be made available for examination during office hours only, and the employee seeking the infromation has to be necessarily away from his workplace at the time.

Is it a Government undertaking? Otherwise a Company does not come under the purview of RTI.
Yes, the employee concerned can be asked to be on leave to inspect the documents. But instead of the PIO of the company directly asking him to be on leave, the thing should be got done by advising the higher up of the employee to seek his leave application.

The PIO has no power to ask you to come on leave. His duty is to provide you the documents.
