Mother's name

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 31 January 2024 This query is : Resolved
Hello Sir, I have a doubt that my biological mother died in 2013 and my father remarriaged and my step mother name is in my 10th 12th and graduation certificate as my father changed mother's name in my documents on the basis of marriage certificate and affidavit right in my schooling.
Unfortunately, in 2018 he also passed away.. my concern is that is there any issue as my biological mother name is in birth certificate and step mother's name in my all documents as i am applying for UPSC and state PCS Exams (Birth certificate is not a required doc during their verification). But there's not any issue with understanding with my step mother.
Please help, i use to overthink about it and it hinders my preparation.!!

Without you being adopted by your step mother you cannot have your step mother's name in the place of your biological mother.
In the event of submitting your birth certificate as well as the educational certificates together for any purpose or even recruitment for a job, you may face a problem then.
However you can go for a name change process then as per law.

To my knowledge, UPSC does not scrutinize such aspects. If selected for a Central Government job, you can furnish the correct particulars in the Attestation form.

Yes. Your mother's name is not required in applications for any job or other applications. But your stepmother name is not correct in your certificates. So get a gazette notification for your biological mother's name.
