Death certificate

Dear Experts,
This is regarding the Death of our Grand father. He died on march 31, 2002. Unfortunately, my father or my uncles never applied for a death certificate and now even my father died of an accident on February 2, 2010. Is there any way I can apply for death certificate of my Grand father? Please help.

Is the death registered with the Local Body i.e. Panchayat or Municipality?

If the death was registered,apply for the certificate, if was not registered, know the procedure for late registration from concerned department and complete the formalities of registration.
