I am a victim of being a helping hand. In our society in Lucknow there is a man who would continuously beat his wife everyday and his wife would cry and come to each and every people for help. Being the president of the society she would regularly come to my house for help. One day fed up of her husband's torture I took 2 people from society and complained in writing to the police station about the husband that he is creating nuisance in our society by regularly drinking and regularly beating his wife and used my contacts in police and put him in the lock up for 24 hours. The police did not file any FIR for that. Now this man has stopped beating his wife but it is extremely shocking for me that he due to the police fear now is living okay okay with his wife and his wife also with him but he has now to seek revenge from me for putting him in the lock up instead got a civil defamation suit filed by from wife that I have defamed her by filing a false police complaint that she is being beaten up regularly from her husband after he gets drunk and is seeking a compensation of rs. 50lacs. No one wants to help me now because now everybody is afraid of becoming a helping hand and then getting troubled for that. What can I do? I only complained to the police that she is being beaten up by her husband after he gets drunk to save her and have social peace in the society and here instead she is complaining that I have defamed her !!
If this is the way the society will be nobody will come forward to help anybody. Please a good lawyer help me what should be the strategy reply/written statement in thi s case?
Can this case be quashed in the High Court?

This is regarding the extra charges being imposed by the builder during registration.
I have purchased a FLAT in Jan 2010 with Possesion Date of Dec 2010.
My agreement says only to pay 49,11,500/ + (Registration + Stamp duty + Maintenance Charges). Now I am asking for registration of the flat and the builder is asking to pay extra Govt. Levies@ 6.5% of 49,11,500
(i.e 3,19,248/-) which is not a part of my agreement. Also he is charging me the late payment charges of 2,06,628/- which is because disbursement got delayed from BANK. The builder did not send any
demand letter to the bank to disburse the amount and there was no progress in the construction.
My Agreement was done - Jan, 2010
Actual Flat Possession Date was - Dec,2010 (Still Not Given)
Current Situation - Not yet giving Possession Date and demanding more money
Please let me know
1. What are 6.5% charges?
2. Also should I pay delay charges as there is a delay from builder side as he is not giving possession then what?
3. How much time it would take me to get this legally resolved in karnataka? I heard there are lots of cases pending to be resolved?

Hello Sir/Madam,
I have shortlisted 3 cents of land to purchase in my native place. The whereabouts of the property are:
In 2005 the land owner got registered the land from another person and the registration was executed through the Court since they had a dispute on the sale agreement made earlier in 1996 and finally the court has registered the land in favor to the buyer.
After the registration happened the current land owner has recently granted General Power of Attorney to his uncle. So if am buying the property it would be from the person who has the power of attorney,
Kindly advise if this is a doable one and who all should sign during when am registering, whether the one who gave the power or the one who has the power.
I am kindly requesting for the valuable advise.
Thanks,
Ravi

Interest on delayed payment of professional charges
Dear Sir,
A client of mine had availed the professional services in the year 1998 and had not paid the professional charges Rs1,60,000\- in spite of repeated reminders. After issuing a legal notice a case was filed in the year 2003 in a civil court. The judgement has come in my favour but only for the principal amount. In the judgement the judge says since there is no agreement for payment of interest, I am not entitled. Is it fair? In professional services do chartered accountants/doctors/lawyers would usually have a clause while accepting the assignment for interest? Can go for appeal? My advocate says there may not be any use? Do I have to forgo the interest from 1998 to July 2011 when the judgement is pronounced? My advocate has claimed 24% in the notice and in the plaint. Is the value of Rs1,60,000 in 1998 is the same as 2011 - after 13 years? The Judge said I have conclusively proved my case but yet I am entitled only for the fee (Principal amount). Pl advise.
