Hello,
I want to buy an agricultural land in gujarat. My paternal grandmother was a farmer and owned a piece of farm(in TN).But unable to manage she sold the land to her sisters son who in turn sold it to someone else. Can my father now become an farmer since his mother owned an agricultural land and the document has her name as a previous owner.?
If not what other options are there?

Once your grand mother had sold the property, how can your father become owner. It is ridiculous question.

Mr Ravinder Please explain how it is a ridiculous question? I asked whether my father can claim to be a farmer if he buys an agriculture land. Please read my question properly. I know my father cannot claim that land which his mother sold. its common sense and i have it.

You need to check with revenue authority of any district of gujarat if for buying agricultural land one needs to be a farmer.
If it is necessary then on the basis of any document leading to prove that some time in past his mother owned some agricultural land in T.N.state,your father can not legally be deemed to be an agriculturist.
An idea may prevail that he buys some agricultural land in a state where no bar of the kind is and then buys in Gujarat.

To establish that you are an agriculturist, your ancestors also should be from Gujarat only. TN rule will not apply for Gujarat. Revenue law is a state Act.
