Wp and mp clarification - chennai high court.

Hi,
I filed a Writ Petition in Chennai High Court and also coupled a stay petition to it.
The main writ petition was numbered and came for hearing.The Judge issues a "Adjourned Admission" for 2 weeks stating other respondent to file a counter.
However even after 2 months, the main Writ Petition did not come for hearing.When inquired in section, I was told that the Miscellaneous Petition has still not received the Order number.
I'm confused now.How did the case come for hearing earlier before MP getting numbered?Now what steps can be done to expedite the case for hearing?
