I am presently an inter in a Medical college, of Maharashtra, but exploited as my superior doctors ask me to do 24 hrs duty on a stretch in a day. Instead of giving me off next day, they say that I should do duty next day up to 5:00 PM as official working hrs are 9:00AM to 5:00 PM. Even I have to work on Sundays.
Is there a law stipulating 8 hrs duty in a day or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM duty every day.
Are Sundays and other public holidays like Diwali etc holiday?

Dear sir
You are Intern and facing such problem, But believe me when you complete, MD and take admission in DM you may have to go for 28 hours work
Residents Doctors will not come under service law as they are treated as students/Learners and the Govt will paid handsome perks. In Delhi it may be around Rs 60,000 P.M
But it applies to Meical officers/fACULTY MEMBERS where their appointment is under rules
