Whether to file one fir or two

I have to file a complaint against person
for dispute and voilence
but after dispute the person has gone to
different state

do i have to

1) file FIR in city ( state) the where I
live and dispute happened

2) file FIR in city ( state) the accussed
person lives

OR

3) file FIR in the both states

Please suggest how to file police complaint against accused in this situation.

1. The case can be filed where the offence or cause of action occurred.
2. Same case.complaint can not be filed in both places.

Complaint / FIR need to be filed where offense occurred and can not be lodged at multiple places.
