Verbally abused by neighbour

I am 24 years old & living in a chawl in Mumbai since birth, 3 years ago a family bought a house in front of our house.
The 16 years old daughter and her mother often verbally abuse my mother & sister over very small issue. And the words she use is disgusting and not only this even after the quarrel is over, she keeps on abusing us directly or indirectly. She even sometimes tell that she will commit suicide and put the blame on us. And we are not the first one whom she has abused. Earlier she had similar problem with other also. But this time she has gone too far in harassing us.
What should I do because this kind of people are common in Mumbai's chawl but it is becoming too much for us to tolerate.
And also she is a Maharashtrian and we hails from UP, so we think even Police might take their side
What legal or other options are avaiable with me ???

LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR.
Call them for a cup of tea.
Nicely talk and explain how it hurt you. and can it be avoided. . Try to find out why they often verbally abused you.
If it works , good and well , or Lodge a Police complaint.
Keep your talk voice recorded. As Probably they will boil out their dislikes...

As Mr.shroff has suggested you ,try do not indulge in quarelling with her , once you will not care and give your attention on her abuses next time she will herself feel guilty , everything can be solve by showing love and respect , don't think about U.P and Marathi , if you think the problem is too big and you can not solve it amicably with her then take the help of local police by registering �omplain in the police station .

You have not mentioned any background or the description of small issue which made the girl and her mother abused your mother.
No neighbour tries to abuse without any irritation or problem caused by another neighbour. Better you and your family members may make a review how you people behave with others.

Avoiding is better in such events.
Cordial relation can not be maintained in continuation with such people come what may.
If even after avoiding such attitude continues, go on recording the abusing and after it lodge police complaint.
