This query is : Resolved
My uncle is old and sick. He isn't in a position to sign. He tried it few times on a sheet of paper but can't do it.
Can his thumb impression be used on official papers including will, property, bank, ...?
Is there a need to make any additional document stating that he can't sign anymore? What is this document called and where is it available?
Is thumb impression valid even for those who can or used to sign (earlier)?

Dear Author,Thumb Impression with Copy of Doctor's Certificate will do.It should be mentioned though his hands were not well Mentally he is Perfect.
Can't a person freely use thumb impression or signature? Or a switch to thumb impression be always supported by a doctor's certificate? Is this the only possibility or there is any other document or possibility?
Thanks in advance.

Well advised by the learned expert sh. Rajkumar. In addition, in case of will, get it registered.
RBI has issued circular in this regard regarding operation of bank account by old and sick persons for bank purposes his thumb impression can be used in presence of 2 independent witnesses one should be bank official

Well advised by experts. A person who normally used to sign if on incapacity is not able to sign he can very well affix his thumb impression but the same has to be properly witnessed for authentication.
