Respected Sirs,
I am a regular reader of your site. You are doing a Yomen service to many people . God bless you all.

Now my query is - If I want to open a Trading company in chennai- & do a trading with in 10 lacs - should I register with SALES TAX AUTHORITIES ? Their web site 1 st page says NO - but they harass us to register with them & give monthly give returns, which is difficult for a very small Trader like me. I do not have that much margin to appoint a n audiitior etc. Pl let me know what is the law .

you are a dealer under the Service Tax Act henceforth liable to be registered under Sec 7 of the said Act if you are liable to pay tax under the Act.
