To become a solicitor, a candidate has to complete three years of clerkship with a senior solicitor and then pass the solicitor's examination conducted by the Bombay Incorporated Law Society. The Bombay Incorporated Law Society continues to conduct an examination for those who want to qualify as solicitors. The examination is very difficult. No one can style himself as a solicitor unless he has passed this examination and been admitted to the Law Society as a solicitor. The Bombay Incorporated Law Society is an association like a guild of advocates who, while on the rolls of the Bar Council choose to practice as Solicitors or Attorneys. This is a legacy from the British period and still in vague in Mumbai. Most of the clients prefer to deal with Solicitor in Mumbai and in many law firms, they would not admit a lawyer without a solicitor qualification.

If your employer gives an NOC to appear for the Solicitor's exam, will the Law Society admit his candidature?
