receipt of purchase

(Querist) 12 September 2008 This query is : Resolved
sir
sometime we purchase some goods of low cost and if ask the shopkeeper to give receipt he denies, what is the remedy of getting receipt for the same and how the shopkeeper can be brought in legal frame of his denial?
nitin (Expert) 12 September 2008
if that shopkeeper is not giving the bill you have the remedy to lodge a complaint to the police. further you can file the complaint in the consumer forum.

well its always better to have a receipt, its true that when we bargain over some product, the shopkeeper would not be issuing either receipt or the warranty card.

in my opinion going to police will not be a good idea, having help of consumer bodies is a good option.

though we can make a complaint to the company directly.

sir
how we can go to consumer court without any proof as when we will not got any receipt the shopkeeper may deny that the goods is not purchased from his shop, then how we will prove our case?

Still you can insist the shopkeeper to give you due receipt for the goods you have purchased from him. If he does not oblige you can take legal action under VAT and also complain to the Inspector of Legal metrology under the standards of weights and measurements act.
