Mistake of my mothers name in sslc marks card

Hi i need some ones attention,There as been a mistake in my mothers name in the SSLC Marks card, My mother name is Kusuma H.D
but they have mentioned it as Kusuma M.D,
My concerrn is i need to apply for passport,so what are the procedure i need to carry out for the correction

Take up the matter with the concerned Board, get the formalities for rectification and proceed.
