Kindly enlighten me about the article under which of the Constitution of India the various city's metropolitan development boards have been enacted under the respective state's acts. Which article of the Constitution of India authorises such formation of Metropolitan Development Boards.

The 74th Constitution Amendment Act (CAA), 1992 gave constitutional recognition to the urban local bodies along with the constitutional right to exist

The 74th CAA requires the state governments to amend their municipal laws in order to empower ULBs “with such powers and authority as may be necessary to enable them to function as institutions of self governance”.

Article 243ZE of the Constitution required all state governments to review the existing municipal laws and either repeal or modify those which are inconsistent with the provisions of the 74th CAA within one year from the commencement of the Act.
