Inspection of documents

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 15 March 2025 This query is : Resolved
Dear experts,
I have filed a commercial suit before city civil court based on the supply of the goods. The defendants had ordered for the goods via phone calls and for a few transactions they sent a PO. During the hearing of summary judgment the defendant has produced their ledger wherein they showed the entries of 19 invoices out of 20 invoices. based on the same a conditional leave to defend was granted.
Now the defendant is asking me for the inspections of original PO and all Invoices towards denial of my claim. What should I do?

Thanks in Advance.

A defendant can file a petition for the inspection of original documents, particularly those referred to in the plaintiff's pleadings or affidavits, to formulate their defense.
Under the Code of Civil Procedure (CPC), every party to a suit, including the defendant, has the right, at or before the settlement of issues, to request the production of documents referred to in the other party's pleadings or affidavits for inspection
The purpose of this right is to allow parties to understand the nature and content of the documents relied upon by the other side, enabling them to prepare their case effectively.
you cannot deny to produce the documents for inspection or you will lose the case

sir,
Thank you so much for prompt reply.
I am not denying for giving the inspection of documents. I just want to understand that when the Defendant in his ledger has already admitted the transactions of 19 invoices out of 20 invoices, then what should I do? can I reply to his letter for inspection and take it on the record that he already had admitted the transactions of 19 invoices in his reply to my summary judgment and considering his admission the court has granted him a conditional leave to defend?

What is the problem in allowing inspection of records?
