Fathers Right in Son's Property

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 04 August 2011 This query is : Resolved
I bought one property with my own money. When i bought the property my father gave me Rs. 1 lakh which indirectly i used in paying the dues of the property. All the documents are in my name and all the transaction was held through my account. But my father who is a lawyer says he also holds equal rights in the property.
Please let me know if its true?
My terms with my father are not good and now he wants that i should give him the share in my property else he will go to court.
Please help me regarding the same.

Let him go to court and let him learn the law afresh.

Yes. As a lawyer how can forgot the law.. Don't worry untill he prove his case with material evidence he can't claim the title.

At the most, he can claim Rs. 1 lakh from you provided he has any proof with him about the money paid by him, i.e., by cheque/ draft or if he has any receipt for the money paid to you.

all are right ,you alone is owner and not your father.

Hey Thanks aloy everybody for ur replies...
But my father says that he can do the same under HUF
R.Ramachandran (Expert) 15 August 2011
Unless you the owner of the property consciously and openly after due declaration threw that property into the HUF, your father can't do a damn about it.

he made one will mentioning the property and the amount he paid while buying the property and in the same will i am one of the confirming parties including my mother and brother.
so does the property comes under HUF???
And if it does, can something be done to withdraw the same from HUF?
