esi, pf

(Querist) 24 July 2010 This query is : Resolved 
do we have to deduct and deposit esi, pf of labour we have employed for repair and maintainence work in our factory from the immidiate day or this esi, pf factor need to be done if they have worked for certain days like minimum 26 days etc.

please clarify, thanks in advance for clarification.

Your factory activities are with the aid of power engaging 10/20 and above employees for wages your factory is coverable under ESI and EPF Act. With/without power 10 employees for ESI- with or without power with 20 employees for EPF when you reach both the condition from the day one itself the Act applies at its own force. So you have to comply with the Act.Any employee engaged for wages- Casual, Contract, Temporary or else they are coverable
