Child's surname

Mine has been an inter-caste hindu marriage. I haven't changed my surname after marriage. I want my children to have my maiden surname. I feel this is one of the reasons why girl child is unwanted in our country, as she is unable to pass on her family name. I want to now if this is permissible under Indian law. Whatever research I have done so far says no. kindly advise me

surname is not allowed you are right. after a long battle mother's name alone is sufficient has been accepted now.
