difference between pre cognisance stage and post cognisance stage

simply pre cognizance stage means, before taking the cognizance under Sec 190 on a charge sheet filed by police or under 203 Cr.P.C on a complaint. Post cognizance stage is after this.

The power of magistrate is same at both the stages but the procedure to be adopted by him is different.
