Land ownership

(Querist) 03 June 2014 This query is : Resolved
Dear Sir/madam,
This year we come to know that my grandfather had purchased agricultural Land in 1947. Till date we were unaware regarding said land. After investigating with collector office we could find out the Sale deed made at that time. But my grandfather had not change the name in 7/12extract and now the preceptor’s of the earlier owner have their names on the 7/12 extract. Further they have divided the land among themselves. So kindly provide your valuable inputs how to go about this.

If the newly found sale deed contains the Registration Number and date, you can apply for EC in the concerned Sub-Registrar's office where the property is situated. If the property is still in your grand father's name, you can take up the matter with the persons who are in possession of the land.
7/12 is not the title, it shows the possession. Regarding maintainability of legal proces after such a long a long time, only senior experts can comment on this aspect.
