Registration under msme act is mandatory

(Querist) 23 March 2012 This query is : Resolved
Sir,

My organization is already registered under the Companies Act, 1956, whether it is mandatory to register under MSME Act or not?

From the limited info. mentioned in your query , it is understood that your organisation is a regd. company and hopefully a mfg. unit interested to avail benefits as a MSME unit .
For availing such benefit / privileges, a n industry is required to be regd. with the appropriate authority under the Industries deptt./ directorate of your state. In Odisha Small, cottage & village industries are to take regn. with the local DIC i.e. District Industries Center and Medium & large industries are to get themselves registered with the Directorate of Industries, odisha. For better info. on this score, You can refer to the Industrial
Policy Resolution of the appropriate state.

Depends upon the nature of business of your company and total investment made in plant & machinery or on equipment by the company.

It is not mandatory to get registered under MSME for private business. In general many government tenders provide Tender Cost / Earnest Money related waivers to those who are registered with MSME.

Though it is not mandatory, you have the option to take advantage of the registration.
