Copy of a copy is not a true copy. Any copy compared with the original document is termed as a true copy.

As per S, 63 of the Evidence Act:
1. A copy of a copy can be used as secondary evidence of the original if the second copy is compared with the original. Eg. A typed copy of the typed copy is secondary evidence if the second typed copy is compared with the original. 2. The terms "true copy" are used in common parlance but they are not leagally used.

Any copy compared with the original document is a true copy. Person certifying "TRUE COPY" is liable to compare a copy with the Original,[ not with copy of a copy. ]
