Defence evidence at the stage of cognizance

Can accused produce evidence at the stage of taking of cognizance ?

No,accused can not produce any evidence untill he received summons from the court and make appearence in the case. accused cant take any steps before the cognizance taken against him.

No such right is given the accused under criminal procedure code. The law presumes that the accused has no say in the case till the court decides to take cognisance of offence against him.
