What is interrogatorier under civil procedure code and what is its used and when?

If any document is in possession of the opposite party or any relevant information is in the possession of the opposite party then any party can move an application under order 11 rule 1 of CPC seeking specific interrogatories and the opposite party shall be given a chance to rebut the application and if court becomes satisfied that the interrogatories are necessary for the just decision of the case then it may order the party to produce the same before it.
