I want to know that educational institute including university,deemed university covers under the Consumer Protection Act. 1986.Please reply.

Kindly go through the Judgment dated 04.09.2009 passed by the Supreme Court of India in case "Bihar School Examination Board Versus Suresh Prasad Sinha" wherein it has been held that the Bihar School
Examination Board is not rendering any `service' as defined under the Consumer
Protection Act, 1986 and as such is not covered within the ambit of Consumer Protection Act.

Educational institutions imparting education, charging money against that if found deficient in their service are squarely covered under CP Act but not boards and universities which generally perform any office work.
