Statement made on affidavit as admission under evidence act

(Querist) 04 July 2014 This query is : Resolved
Although the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 does not apply to affidavits, are statements made on affidavits in a suit or elsewhere accepted as admissions under the Evidence Act?

Is there any case law on this?

In Basant Singh v/s Janki Singh, AIR 1967 SC 341, the Hon'ble Supreme Court held that a statement made in a plaint in one suit can be used as an admission in another suit.

Similarly, if a party made a statement on affidavit in a writ petition, can that statement be used against the party as an admission under the Evidence Act in another writ petition?
