Bank lost my property paper

Hi All,
I have taken a loan 10Lac from IDBI bank Bangalore in Aug, 2008. In sept2012, I have repaid complete amount and asked for the Original property document. However, after repeated follow-up with the bank, I came to know that Bank has lost the documents in transit from their Mumbai head office to bangalore branch. I suspect that bank is just giving false excuses and might have lost long back.
I am bit aware of the consequences of losing the original property documents. So now wanted to know what should be my next step and if I go to consumer court, how much I can claim as damage from bank?

bank will give you a certificate about the loss of original documents . obtain certified copy from registrar office .
consumer court will consider your claim of compensation . exact figure cannot be given of the amount that may be awarded . contact a local lawyer
