Buying an agricultural land

(Querist) 02 May 2012 This query is : Resolved
Hi,
My father currently has agricultural property (inherited) in his name. The RTC/ Pahani has his name as the rightful owner, but the original title/mother/parent deed is missing. In such cases, will his married sisters have the right on his agricultural land?
His non-agricultural income exceeds 2,00,000. Will he be able to buy another agricultural land in Karnataka?
Thanks,
Kiran

Brother Firstly the source of flow of title will be traced by mutation entries. Then automatically the status of the title will be traced. if the property is ur fahter's self aquired property then ur fahter's married sisters will not have any right in his agricultural land.
Secondly in Karnataka Land Reforms Act, 1961 there is clear prohibition for acquiring agricultural land by a person of joint family who have income more than Rs.2,00,000/-- Refer Sec 79-A of the said Act

I do agree with Bijapur.

Mohammed, Raj,
Thanks for your replies.

The mutation extract specifies that property has been transfered from my grandfather's name to his "only son" with the consent from my grandmother (with her signatue). Is that sufficient to claim sole ownership on the land?

Yes
