can we laminate legal documents.

(Querist) 28 December 2010 This query is : Resolved
I have some legal documents such as a will, property registration, rent receipts from the govt. etc that are fading(the ink part) and the paper is cracking due to old age. Can I have them laminated for safety and preventing further damage. Is there any legal hurdles or implications if I laminate these documents. Can the lamination me removed if needed in the future without damaging the documents.

It is better to keep them in safe and apply for certified copies and there you have to produce them for the satisfaction of the SR concerned and in your application clearly mention the reason for applying its certified copy. After an inquiry certified copies will be delivered to you and the Old-aged will be kept in safe by the SR concerned.

Defective documents are of no worth in legal action as the soul of the documents are diminished or taken away by the time as it will come into the definition of inchoate document.

THERE IS NO PROBLEM OF ANY TYPE IN LAMINATION.

You may put them in plastic cover as lamination will not be removed if the same is required for judging its authenticity
