(Querist) 08 March 2012 This query is : Resolved
I complained in Women police statsion and got the FIR filed on my in-laws and Husband on dowry/ harrasment. I went through higher official since my earlier petition was rejected by police station. So police officials are angry on me and not explaining things clearly to me. They asked me to bring the witnes.
For what witness they are expecting, they didnt tell clearly. They told to ask lawyer. My lawyer also dont know.
Please let me know what witness should i bring to them?
(I filed on dowry , harrasment. For dowry amount transfer I have bank account)

you can make a complaint to all the higher officials and local magistrate, or bring with you who has seen time of harass.or send telegram to all the above.

She wasnts to know which witness she should bring which her lawyer is also not aware. Without know what exact allegations have been made how one can be expected to tell as to which evidence she should lead.

Anyone attempting this vague query will be doing injustice to her.

Dear Priya,

Their act is despicable - they are under an obligation to register the FIR and investigate further and collect proofs, it is wrong to ask you for witnesses since these offences happen in the four walls of a home - and it is unjust to expect independant witnesses. I would strongly advise you to approach the local magistrate in your area under section 156(3) he would ask for a status report and monitor in the investigation to make it effective.

As you are saying police is angry with you but being a reporter you should help to police. You can produce your family members, relatives, friend or other independent witness if any, who know your grievances. You can provide the name of witnesses also.

Though it is the duty of police to investigate, but in family matters it is not easy unless reporter helps them. Your indifference may lead them to submit final report due to lack of evidence.

Agreed with Arvind and Bharat.
