I completed 11 years of law practice. I wish to apply for NOTARY. Pl inform the procedure for becoming NOTARY. Thank you

Quick Summary

If you've practised law for at least 10 years, you're eligible to apply to become a Notary. You can apply directly to the Central Government via the Ministry of Law & Justice or to your State Government's Law Department. The process is governed by the Notaries Act, 1952 and Notaries Rules, 1956.

You can directly apply to the Government to appoint you as a Notary, so that you know the procedure and can practice as a Notary.

Under the Notaries Act, 1952 & Notaries Rules, 1956, you are eligible because:
Advocates with at least 10 years’ practice can apply for Notary (7 years for SC/ST and women).
It depends on the type of appointment: Central Government Notary
Apply to: The Law Ministry(Notary Cell), Department of Legal Affairs,Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India.
State Government Notary
Apply to the State Government Law Department of your State (usually the Secretary, Department of Law & Justice).
