Legal Heirship Certificate

My father died recently intestate leaving behind his wife and me as his successors. I would like to know the procedure for obtaining a Legal Heirship or Successor Certificate in Kolkata.

This is required by me in connection with transfer of name of a plot allotted in his name.

apply in relevant tahseel before tehsildar/sdm.

U need neither. File an application with KMC in the prescribed Form for Mutation available at 5, S.N.Banerjee Road for Mutation of your names on the strength of the Death Certificate & a Self-Declaration of Succession on Affidavit.
Detailed requirements are there in the Form of Mutation itself. Go through the check-list as contained therein & act accordingly.
Note:-Succession Certificate is granted only on 'MOVABLE' PROPERTY LEFT BY THE DECEASED & NOT ON IMMOVABLE PROPERTY.
