some months ago one of my friend had taken a sum of Rs fifty thousand from me and the contract of agreement was written on simple plain paper. now the friend is not showing his intention to return the money. so what should i do .wheter the plain paper can be a valid document and i have heard about the negotiable instrument act. so if this matter comes NI Act

ok, you can prove his signature and written statement, then file a cheating case not NI case, in case you signature with revenue stamp then file money suit.

If you have a valid promissory note but without revenue stamp, it is a NI document. You can file a civil case by paying the penalty for the revenue stamp.
