An unregistered proprietorship firm in India is legal or not ?

There is no specific formalities to register the proprietorship firm. If it is regd., to with the sales Tax dept., for VAT no., it is valid.
Such firms or legal and valid.

Unregistered firm is legally valid and cant be file a suit against others but others can be file a suit against that firm.

Proprietorship is not a firm and needs no registration. It can sue and to be sued
